The Ford F-150 XL

Customization is the key to satisfaction when choosing your vehicle. Between differences in cab size, bed size, exterior design, and interior amenities, the Ford F-150 has more options than you can count.

In total, there are eight main trims to choose from. However, these eight levels have varying sub-trims within them.

To keep things simple for you, we'll be focusing on the main eight trim levels, starting with the base level: the 2017 Ford F-150 XL.

Performance Specs

The Ford F-150 offers several different engine options across its trim levels, ranging from eco-friendly options to muscly V8s. However, the F-150 XL starts off with the 3.5L Ti-VCT V6.

When paired with the electronic six-speed automatic transmission and available four-wheel drive system, this engine can produce 282 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque while maintaining 23 MPG highway and 17 MPG city.1

Towing & Cargo

When all that horsepower and torque is paired with features, such as the electronic shift-on-the-fly with neutral towing capability and Trailer Sway Control, the F-150 XL can easily haul up to 5,000 pounds.

Anything that won't fit on your trailer can then be stowed in the XL bed. At 78 inches long and 50.6 inches wide between the wheel wells, this bed offers an additional 62.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

Interior Comfort

The cab of your Ford F-150 XL aims to be as spacious as possible with available bucket seats up front and a comfortable bench in the back. Drivers will have 40.8 inches of headroom and 43.9 inches of legroom as they settle into their cloth-trimmed seat.

Many different entertainment features are then available, such as the SYNC® suite. However, an auxiliary jack comes standard for mobile connectivity.

Safety Features

Several safety features are available in the F-150 XL to improve handling and security. When it comes to stability, you'll have features such as AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control® and Curve Control.

Inside the vehicle, you'll have the comprehensive Safety Canopy® side curtains acting as a buffer during collisions. The SOS Post-Crash Alert System™ then ensures your protection after the accident.
