2018 Ford F-150 Performance
As Ford plans out the 2018 F-150, they've got their mind on performance. Specifically, finding new ways to add variation and power to your drive. For this reason, they're adding several new engines. Drivers can now choose:
- 3.3L Ti-VCT V6
- 5.0L Ti-VCT V8
- 2.7L EcoBoost®
- 3.5L EcoBoost®
It's said that they're even planning on adding a fifth option: a 3.0L Powerstroke® diesel engine. No matter which you choose, it'll pair with a 10-speed transmission for improved acceleration.
These engines will also be paired with Auto Start-Stop technology. This feature can autonomously cut and ignite engine power during idling periods, all to reduce fuel consumption. With this technology, the 2018 Ford F-150 may just be the most efficient model yet.
Haul More Cargo
The goal with the 2018 F-150 is to imbue it with the pulling power of a three-fourths-ton truck, all while maintaining the same manageable size you've grown used to. They intend to achieve this by adding in extra towing technologies.
Dynamic Hitch Assist adds a visible sight line on your instrumental panel. That way, you'll have a bit of assistance both in terms of stability and sight.
Trailer Backup Assist will also be available. If you're attempting to back in and out of a tight spot, you can do so safely.
Finally, the bed of your truck will add a variety of new cargo features, including:
- LED work lights
- Tailgate step
- Storable loading ramps
- BoxLink™ cargo management
All-New Safety Features
Just as the 2018 Ford F-150 is going to add plenty more cargo features, a host of new safety features will be available, too. Your truck's protective capabilities will easily be able to match its hauling capabilities.
For instance, features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection will both be available. These features employ cameras and sensors to detect when you may be on course for an accident, and will hit the brakes accordingly.
The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) will also be available in the 2018 F-150. As you might have guessed, this feature monitors your blind spots to let you know whenever you may be crossing into another vehicle's path.
