The return of the compact truck comes in the form of the Ford Maverick. Trucks have gotten progressively larger over time, as have most vehicles. If you're near Nazareth, Easton, Lehigh Valley, Stroudsburg, or East Stroudsburg, PA, and prefer a small yet usable truck, the Maverick is a splendid choice.

This 2022 Ford Maverick review highlights a lot of what the model is about. You can just as easily use the Maverick for daily commuting as you can to accomplish projects at the worksite. Our Ray Price Stroud Ford inventory includes the Maverick, too, in case you wanted a test drive!

Ford Maverick: Usable, Efficient Performance

One of the many charms of the Ford Maverick is its customizable performance. The smallest truck in the Ford lineup can still deliver big returns on capability. Plus, with the standard hybrid engine, fuel economy is a real strength.

The standard 2.5L hybrid engine produces 191 combined horsepower and earns an EPA-estimated 42 city/33 highway MPG. If you bump up to the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, the output increases to 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0L engine is still plenty efficient, earning an EPA-estimated 23 city/30 highway MPG.

You'll have your choice of Front Wheel Drive or available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with this truck. The hybrid engine comes with a PowerSplit: Electronic (CVT) Continuously Variable Transmission while the 2.0L engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Payload and towing capacity will vary depending on how you have the truck configured:

  • A minimum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds when properly equipped
  • A maximum towing capacity of 4,000 pounds when properly equipped
  • A maximum payload of 1,500 pounds when properly equipped

Ford Maverick: Selecting Your 2022 Trim Level

There are three trim levels to consider for the 2022 Ford Maverick, in addition to the various packages that you can opt for. Trims are an easy way to land the exact features you want and include:

  • Ford Maverick XL
  • Ford Maverick XLT
  • Ford Maverick LARIAT

The standard XL trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display and the SYNC® 3 infotainment system. Voice commands are available, and if you want to pair your smartphone with the screen, you can do so with Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™.

The middle trim is the XLT, which stands out with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels and unique cloth seats.

The top trim is the LARIAT, a moniker you may be familiar with if you've ever owned an F-150. Inside the cabin of the LARIAT resides premium vinyl seats and a 6.5-inch instrument cluster screen.
