Ford invited five real customers to come view the newly redesigned 2017 Super Duty before it is even available in dealerships, and get a look at what goes in to making the new models better than ever before.

In 2015, Ford introduced aluminum body panels to the F-150. Aluminum cut the truck's weight, while maintaining durability and safety. This year, the Super Duty is getting the same treatment.

The five guests get to heft the light aluminum doors and the old steel doors -- the difference is noticeable.

The weight saved on the truck's body was re-invested into the frame, suspension, axles, driveline, and brakes. Josh Morris, a grid electrician, got to try out a towing test with a nearly 30,000-pound load over an extremely corrugated test track.

"Nobody likes a white-knuckle towing experience," Morris says, "and see right here? It stays put, it doesn't want to wander over those bumps; it doesn't want to jump off the road. It just stays planted. That gives you a good feeling of confidence."
