Ford Dashboard Symbols

At Ray Price Stroud Ford, we want all our Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Easton, Nazareth and Lehigh Valley customers to drive safely. That's why we've put together this guide to Ford's most common warning light indicators.

Ford Warnings Lights and Indicators

Ford dashboard warning and indicator lights will often signify when a specific feature has been engaged. Warnings, on the other hand, denote a malfunction and will require immediate attention.

All warnings can be addressed by calling your local Ford dealer for service.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Indicator: When ACC is turned on, this indicator will illuminate. It looks like a speedometer with a car in the corner.

  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Warning: If this light turns on while you're driving, there's been a malfunction in your ABS. It appears as the letters ABS inside a circle.

  • Auto Start-Stop Indicator: This light is depicted as the letter A encircled by an arrow. It illuminates when your engine is shutting down during auto start-stop.

  • Blind-Spot Monitor Indicator: The light looks like one car following in another vehicle's blind spot. It illuminates to indicate when either the monitor has turned on or off.

  • Brake System Warning: This light appears as an exclamation point and the letter P, both inside circles. If turned on, either your parking brake is engaged while driving or there's been a system malfunction.

  • Cruise Control Indicator: This light illuminates when cruise control is engaged. It looks like a speedometer.

  • Door Ajar Warning: This light looks like a car with the doors open, and indicates that same problem. When you see it, pull over and shut all the doors.

  • Electric Park Brake Warning: This light appears as a zig-zagged arrow inside a circle. It turns on to indicate that there's been an error with the parking brake.

  • Engine Coolant Temperature Warning: When coolant temperatures are dangerously high, this light will turn on. It looks like a thermometer submerged in liquid. Be sure to pull over right away and allow your engine to cool.

  • Engine Oil Warning: If this light turns on while your car is running, a malfunction has occurred. Check your engine oil level right away.

  • Front Fog Lamp Indicator: This indicator looks like a headlamp with crisscrossed lines emitting from it. It shows that your fog lamps are turned on.

  • Lane Keeping Aid Indicator: This light is depicted as a vehicle driving straight between two dotted lines. It illuminates to indicate the Lane Keeping Assist has been activated.

  • Low Tire Pressure Warning: This light indicates that the pressure in one or more of your tires is low. It looks like an exclamation point inside brackets. Check your owner's manual to determine proper pressure levels before refilling.

  • Powertrain Fault Warning: This warning appears as a wrench. It illuminates when there's been an error in the powertrain.

  • Service Engine Soon Warning: This light is depicted as an engine, and shows that there's been an error underneath the hood. Call for service soon. However, if it begins flashing while driving, the engine is currently misfiring. Pull over immediately.

  • Stability Control Indicator: This light is depicted as a car driving a curvy road. It indicates that the Stability Control system has either turned on or off.
