Potholes are major bummers. They are jarring and the can cause expensive damage to your vehicle. Furthermore, they are often unavoidable. With this in mind, Ford has developed a new advanced computer-controlled shock absorber system that that takes the sting out of potholes. Available exclusively for the upcoming Fusion V6 Sport, the innovative system means you don't have to swerve to save your ride.

The system uses 12 high-resolution sensors that scan the road and adjust the dampers every two milliseconds. When the edge of a pothole is detected, the dampers are immediately adjusted to their stiffest settings, prevent the wheel from falling into the hole and limiting the force of the impact with the other side.

“We tested and tuned this system by driving over countless potholes – subjecting Fusion V6 Sport to the brutal, square-edged potholes of our Romeo Proving Grounds to finesse the software,” said Michener. “It was long hours of not very pleasant work, but the results are well worth it.”

The all-new Fusion V6 Sport begins arriving in dealerships this summer.
