Ford F-250 Engine Specs
As you can expect from a Ford Super Duty truck, the 2019 F-250 makes two strong engine options available. The first is a 6.2L V8 gas engine that generates 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
For even more torque and higher pulling power, you can upgrade to the 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel engine that puts out 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque. This engine is ideal for towing and comes equipped with Engine-Exhaust Braking, which helps to protect your brakes and transmission when descending a steep hill with a trailer.
This function restricts exhaust flow to create back pressure and slow the truck without braking or down-shifting with your TorqShift® 6-speed SelectShift® Automatic transmission. With this feature, your brakes and transmission will be less likely to overheat while towing.
Ford F-250 Towing Capabilities
With a lightweight body made of a military-grade aluminum alloy and a fully boxed high-strength steel frame, the 2019 Ford F-250 is able to tow a ton (or six!). With the 6.2L gas engine, this truck can pull a maximum of 15,000 pounds with conventional towing.
The 6.7L turbo diesel engine, however, helps you reach a maximum towing capacity of 18,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The F-250 also includes several driver-assist features that can help you make the most of your towing abilities, like Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control, and BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with trailer coverage. The latter feature alerts you when cars enter your side and rear blind spots so that you know when it's safe to merge.
This coverage extends to the length of the trailer, as well, taking the guess work out of merging whether you're on the highway or passing through town.
2019 F-250 Configurations
The Ford F-250 is a highly customizable truck, with several different configurations to meet any needs. For example, there are three different cabs to choose from, Regular, Super, and Crew, that seat three, six, and six passengers, respectively.
Additionally, you can choose between two different boxes, an 8-foot box and a 6 ¾-foot box, with 78.5 cubic feet and 65.4 cubic feet of cargo space, respectively. Depending on your configuration, the F-250 can carry a payload of 3,130-4,270 pounds.
This cargo space is highly accessible, as well, with the available integrated tailgate step. Stow the step inside the tailgate and easily pull it out when you need an extra boost getting in-and-out of the back of your truck.
